This is why Simplify Digital was born; to provide impartial switching advice in the complex UK market.
Simplifydigital started life as a retail business in 2007. It was launched by two ex-BskyB executives, Charlie and Lawrence (who are both still with the business as the CEO and COO respectively), to provide impartial switching advice to TV, broadband and home phone customers. The market for these products, known as ‘bundles’ is complex, with over 4,500 deals to choose from. This means a lot of technical jargon for the consumer to understand and an often tricky switching process.
Fast forward 9 years, we are still operating in the TV, home phone and broadband market but have also diversified into selling gas and electricity tarrifs, data models and sales & retention software. Our proprietary technology proposition has seen Simplify Digital grow in revenue every year. Along the way we have built a team of exceptionally talanted individuals across all departments in the company. Our home is in Hammersmith in a brand new, open plan office complete with a pool table, games console and lots of breakout areas to encourage new thinking. We also have an office in Aviero, Portugal that is home to a talanted team of technology professionals.
On our incredible journey we have picked up lots of accolades and awards along the way including being named in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 and Deloitte Fast 50 for three years in a row (2015, 2014 and 2013). In 2016 we were acquired as a wholly-owned subsidiary by one of the largest retail businesses in the UK, Dixons Carphone.
We sell successfully through our own brand (Simplifydigital) and also through partners that you may have heard of such as ComparetheMarket, Carphone Warehouse, Game, Sainsbury's, PC World, Currys and The Guardian. Simplify Digital Web Services is the technology division of Simplifydigital. This part of the business powers the retail operation but also export their expertise in telco and energy to B2B partners, producing software through a SaaS model. The technology team at Simplifydigital is split over two locations; Hammersmith and Aveiro. We came from humble beginnings with our first line of code written in 2010. Since then we haven't looked back and have created software for some of the biggest blue-chip companies in the UK and beyond. We have a talented team that apply best practice Agile methodologies with the latest tools available to create some really cool products. Our retail team are based in Acton - Dixon Carphone's head office - and look after all of our partners and suppliers as well as bringing on new business. The work can be very varied, with each individual that we hire being responsible for delivering revenue growth. We are a close-knit bunch that have been extremely successful in growing the business year-on-year. We have a target to achieve £100 million revenues in the next five years so we are on the lookout for bright and energetic people to join our team.
Simplifydigital have created the UK’s most comprehensive TV, broadband and home phone product data base that is accreditied by Ofcom. It contains near real-time pricing and package information for over 4,500 deals in the UK market (circa 1.3 million deals combined). Off the back of this data we have created some pricing and features models that help suppliers position their deals in the market. We don't recruit often, but when we do we look for the very best big data candidates in the market.
Our contact centre in Hammersmith is made up of around 50 agents, spread over 3 teams; Quality and Assurance, Customer Services and Data Processing. Agents that work within these teams are a key part of the business as they deal directly with many of our customers. When I joined in 2015 we had 15 people in these teams so to be part of this growth has been really exciting. It gives me great pleasure to have overseen the promotion of so many employees both within the team and in other areas of the business.
